Heart of the Mountain: Leveling and the Perks That Matter

Heart of the Mountain (HOTM) is mining's skill tree, leveled with HOTM XP and fueled by powder. Here is the fast leveling route and the perks that carry your setup.

Leveling fast

• Commissions are the engine: T1 gives 100 XP each, T2 200, T3+ 400 — and your first 4 commissions each day carry a +900 XP boost, so at minimum do those daily.
• Do commissions in the Dwarven Mines from HOTM 1-7 (Crystal Hollows commissions are slower with only one emissary). 7-10 goes faster.
• Boosters: Trogobyte shard (up to +10% HOTM XP), the King's Talisman, and at HOTM 7+ the Dwarven Base Camp commissions via a Secret Railroad Pass (~10M) give near-double XP in seconds.

Perks worth taking

• Efficient Miner — mining spread; huge for commissions.
• Picobulus — the explosion ability; the only ability worth using for commissions (and the Kuudra stun tool).
• Precision Mining — +30% speed if you aim the particle.
• Powder Buff (HOTM 7) — up to +50% powder; accelerates everything after it.
• Great Explorer — Crystal Hollows chests: +96% chance and fewer locks; upgrade in multiples of 5.

Powder targets

~9M Mithril / 12M Gemstone / 12M Glacite for the perks that matter; 12.5M/20M/20M if you chase max SkyBlock XP. Best sources: Mithril Gormand events (hand in 200 Tasty Mithril in the LAST minute), Precursor Remnants chests during 2x powder, and Glacite mineshafts (~1/2000 with pity).
